2019 FUSE Conference: COLLABORATION
This year, the FUSE conference returns to Widener University! It will take place over three days—November 7, 8, 9—and feature a story-slam keynote presentation and workshop, student and faculty panel presentations and discussions, a journal showcase, an open mic, and even a few “unconference” sessions that will give attendees a chance to set part of the agenda for the conference when they arrive.
Call for Proposals: COLLABORATION
As we all well know, editing is a collaborative endeavor. At meetings, we discuss the merits of submissions. We share the workload by assuming different duties—genre editor, social media coordinator, blog manager, etc. We work with contributors, asking for revisions or edits that will help make pieces the best they can be. Together, we make decisions about the look and design of our publications. Before the launch, we all take one more look at the final product to make sure everything is just how we want it.
For FUSE 2019, we’re interested in proposals for panels, roundtables, or workshop sessions that emphasize collaboration in editorial endeavors. Here are some possibilities:
• collaborating with different departments or publications on campus
• co-authoring pieces for campus publications
• working with contributors to improve their work
• building an active and engaged editorial team
• recruiting staff members and contributors
• making tough decisions regarding submissions
• forging a collective aesthetic that allows room for individual voices
• delegating and/or sharing responsibilities
We are especially interested in proposals that feature panels comprised of attendees from different schools. If you are interested in being a part of such a cross-institution panel, please send an email inquiry to the address directly below.
Please submit a proposal of no more than 150 words to Dr. Michael Cocchiarale (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday, September 20, 2019.
